Here at NOVALAB, we aspire to help our students reach their academic potential by showing them the tips & tricks we learnt while studying for these exams to maximise the efficiency and outcome of their studies.

OUR STORY

We have just completed our GCSEs after a gruelling 6 weeks and we have learned a lot from this experience. Unlike A levels, GCSEs involve learning and excelling in a wide range of subjects. This can be very challenging without the correct resources and teachers. Our goal at NOVALAB is to share what we have learned by studying for these exams and to help other students achieve what we were able to on Results Day.

How we teach

All of our classes will be conducted online using Google Meets. In the first lesson, we will assess what level our student is at and discover which areas of the subject they need to work on. Once doing this, we can develop a schedule until the date of the student's exam, which considers their abilities and will provide them with the best chance of success in their exams. All work will be stored online to keep a record of progress and varying amounts of homework will be set each week to ensure the student is consolidating their knowledge.

GCSE Subjects that we offer

English

GCSE English consists of two GCSEs: English Literature and English Language. Both require very different skills and involve long exams of up to 2 hours and 15 minutes. During our preparation for these exams we have created many notes and resources that we are offering to our students which we believe, if used correctly, can guarrantee our students the grade that they want.

Mathematics

It is widely regarded as the most important subject. Maths GCSE includes a specification that requires a broad width of knowledge while also being able to effectively answer a range of questions that involve using skills and knowledge from different topics. We have mastered this GCSE as we both moved on to Level 2 Further Maths GCSE in Year 11.

Science

The Sciences consist of three vastly different subjects: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Each GCSE consists of two papers with each paper including 100 marks. We studied & revised the most for the sciences out of all subjects and have learnt all the tips & tricks which we will provide to our students.

Humanities

Humanities are mostly overlooked as important subjects, however from our experience, they can be the hardest GCSEs due to their heavy content load. Our students will be taught how to proficiently and effectively revise for these subjects and with our expertise and their efforts, an outstanding grade will be achieved.

11+ Tutoring

The 11+ is a vital stepping stone to ensuring a future of prosperity for young children. At such a young age, an exam can be stressful for children, which is why a tutor is crucial for anybody wanting to pass the exam and attend a grammar school. As grammar school students ourselves, we can certainly assure you that your child will be given a higher level of education by excelling in the 11+, which will set a solid foundation for their future endeavours.

Our teaching methods for the 11+ are split into three core sections: English (Verbal Reasoning), Maths and Non-Verbal reasoning. We will cover two of these topics per lesson, with the first lesson including small assessments to figure out which stage a student is at.
